I don't intend to get on a soapbox or anything with regards to my thoughts on cellphones. I can't tell you how many times my cell phone has bailed me out of trouble. The trouble that would have been much harder to handle back in the days before this convenient technology. I used to be draconian in enforcing the rules with my kids until I realized that I was breaking them as often, if not more than they were doing. I also feel like doing things have changed with this technological advent. What I mean by "doing things" is that normal mundane things like driving, shopping, and even reading have changed so much that without a phone, I feel like I am not as good at it as I once was. I no longer remember people's phone numbers and I wonder if I could drive using a paper map like before. The other thing I have noticed is that people seem more preoccupied with their phone than what is going on around them. Even shopping is different since you can get what you need to be delivered at a push of a button.
