When your range isn't working right, it puts quite a kink in trying to feed my family. The only appliance I can think to be without is a refrigerator. While having a broken fridge is the worst, an out of order range is definitely second place. I just discovered that my range has a feature where it uses a smaller fifth heating element to keep food warm. As my dad always used to tell me, "When all else fails, read the instructions...".
I know he was being pretty facetious, but it is true, I was always in such a hurry to build or install something new to the point that I would overlook some feature and be totally ignorant of it.
