Bedroom Sets and Sleeping Habits

Do You Have a TV in Your Bedroom?

Chances are that even if the answer is no to that question, you spend a bit of time looking at a screen of some sort. Whether it is your television, a smartphone, or a tablet of some sort, lots of people will stare at a device before hitting the sack. Most devices emit blue light from their screens. Now this color light has some benefits during the daylight hours. It can help reactivity and attention spans but these benefits may become troublesome at night. When you are getting ready to wind down, blue light can hinder melatonin production. Pretty much all light at night can mess with your body's melatonin production levels. Before indoor lighting, people spent most of their nights in relative darkness with only lamps and candles as light. Eerily, according to a Harvard Health study, the lights at night may be messing with people in more ways than one. Bungled circadian rhythms, cancer, obesity, and heart problems may be linked to getting too much light at night.

Reasons Why

There may be several reasons why we like to stare at a screen when we lay down for bed. It may feel like a way to unwind or it could just be a habit. No matter what, it may be a habit you might want to kick. If you are having trouble getting to sleep, your phone or a movie is probably not the answer. I know a lot of people love to sleep with the TV on, but it may not be in your best interest. A dark, cold, and quiet room is recommended by most sleep specialists. In the long run, if you are having trouble sleeping, they say to try to keep your bedroom a place where all you do is sleep or have intimate times.

Does Dad Need a Recliner?

Get Your Pops a Recliner for Father's Day

If your dad is like mine, he is clinging to his old recliner like he owes it his life or something. My dad has worn a full body indention of himself into that old ratty chair. This indention mark makes it difficult for anyone else to sit comfortably in the chair. He doesn't even have to invoke the "Don't sit in Dad's AKA Paw Paw's recliner" rule. Anyone who is cognizant to comfort doesn't even want to take a seat there anyway. This Father's day, I am going to brave the wrath of my dad and get him a new place to sit while he watches the big games this football season. Now, I know better than to get rid of his old chair, but I think if I get the new one and let him acclimate to it, he will be happier in the long run.

Finding the Right Recliner for Sale

The best thing I can do to make my dad appreciate what I will buy for him is to get a good deal on it. My dad isn't a showy man and he doesn't really have much use for what he considers extravagance. These ideas of his make it pretty easy to buy for him on special occasions like his birthday or Christmas. Small tools, Moon Pies, a $20 Amazon gift card and things of that vein will make him happy. I bought my mom a new TV for Mother's Day and he chastised me for spending too much. Of course, I told him what a good deal I got on it was and he was much more accepting. So it is that I must get a good deal on a recliner if I am going to pull this off. I have to for my Mom's sake... she has been complaining that the recliner smells.

Working From Home and Home Office Furniture

Working From Home and Home Office Furniture

If you are one of the growing numbers of people who work from home, chances are you have space where you live dedicated to doing your job. Even if you don't work from home, if you run your own business, you may have to bring your work home with you more often than you might like. Having a home office space with a desk and room to work can help make it easier to concentrate on the task at hand. Sitting in the living room can make it tempting to watch some TV instead of doing what you need to do. While there are numerous distractions between pets, kids and all the forms of entertainment in your home, you know you have a job to do. Those who have a dedicated office space in their homes, we salute you.

What do you Need for a Home Office

The first thing you need is a comfortable chair. When I first started working from home, I would sit at the dinner table and do my work. I would constantly have to get up and walk around because either my back or my rear was hurting. After a few weeks, I had what can only be described as acute saddle soreness. I took one of my first paychecks and bought a decent computer desk chair and that solved the problem. The only hitch was that to sit at the table at the height I needed, this chair I bought was not working as well as I had hoped. This ushered in the purchase of an office desk. I ended up making space in my bedroom for my new work area. This action ended up really helping me concentrate on what I needed to do for the workday.
